The intimate Irish elopement: a guide for two
Eloping in Ireland is not a shortcut - done well, it's the most personal ceremony of all. What to plan, what to skip.
Elopement in Ireland used to mean Las Vegas. Today it means two people, two witnesses, one solemniser, and a place that matters to them. It's the fastest-growing format in Irish weddings - and one of the most moving to officiate.
What you still need
- A HSE-registered solemniser (legally required).
- Three months' notice given to a Civil Registration Service.
- Your Marriage Registration Form on the day.
- Two witnesses, aged 18 or over.
What you can skip
Almost everything else. Dress code, programme, seating chart, speeches, cake table - all optional. What's left is the ceremony itself, and that's where elopements shine.
Greg loves intimate ceremonies and is happy to travel - Cliffs of Moher at sunrise, a Wicklow forest, a back garden in Cork. Get in touch and we'll plan something quietly beautiful.
