How do I book Greg as my solemniser?

Get in touch with your intended date and venue and Greg will come back to you personally to confirm he's free. Once he is, you contact the HSE to formally notify them of your intention to marry - listing your date, your venue, and Greg as your solemniser.

How much notice do I need to give the HSE?

By law, you must give the HSE at least three months' notice of your intended wedding date. The earlier the better - both for the HSE and for securing Greg in your diary.

What does the HSE actually confirm?

Two things. First, that the date you intend to marry on is okay to go ahead. Second, that Greg is on their official register of solemnisers and is authorised to legally marry you.

What is the "green book"?

Accepted Answer

It's the Marriage Registration Form (MRF) - the legal licence for your wedding. You request it from the HSE and bring it on the day. Without it, the ceremony cannot legally take place.

When do we start working on the actual ceremony?

Once the green book is in hand. From there Greg sits down with you to plan everything together - your witnesses, your readers, the people you'd like to involve in any enhancements, and any other personal requests you have.

Where will Greg travel for a ceremony?

Anywhere in the Republic of Ireland - and also in Northern Ireland. Greg is eligible to perform ceremonies both North and South.

What does it cost to book Greg?

As your solemniser, €600–€700. If you'd like Greg to provide additional pre-dinner music, that's €300. These are guide prices - distance and any extras will affect the final bill.

Can Greg also play music at the ceremony or reception?

Yes. Greg is a singer and songwriter as well as a solemniser, so live pre-dinner music can be added to your booking for €300. Just mention it when you get in touch.

Is Greg a civil celebrant?

Accepted Answer

No. A civil ceremony in Ireland legally has to take place inside an HSE-approved venue and cannot include any religious content. Greg is a legal solemniser registered through Future Faith - a recognised secular body - which means he can legally marry you anywhere in Ireland: castle, cliff, garden, barn, your family home.

Can our ceremony include religious or spiritual content?

Yes - completely. Because Greg is a Future Faith solemniser (not a civil registrar), he can weave in any religion, interfaith elements, prayers, blessings, handfasting, unity candles - or keep it entirely non-religious. The words are shaped around what matters to the two of you.

Greg brings a lot more strings to his bow than most people in this field - he's a singer, songwriter, actor, playwright, author and legal solemniser. That mix means a ceremony written with real craft and delivered with the presence of a lifelong performer.

Who needs to be there on the day apart from us?

Two witnesses (aged 18 or over) and Greg. Beyond that, it's entirely your call - readers, family for symbolic enhancements like handfasting or a unity candle, or a quiet elopement of just the four of you.
